Letter from the Accountant General, No. P.A.-17683, dated the 18th September 1897:--

"With reference to paragraph 3 of a letter, dated 27th February 1897, from the Colonial Office to the India Office, communicated with Government Resolution, General Department, No. 1924-1352-r., dated 8th April 1897, regarding the refund to the Bombay Government of the amount paid to Miss McIntosh, a nurse, on account of her half salary at $450 per annum due to her from the Government of Hongkong, I have the honour to state that a sum of Rs. 552-10-0 on account of leave allowance from 1st March to 14th July 1897 has been paid to her. The amount has been arrived at by converting the sum due in dollars into rupees at the official rate of exchange, the dollar being taken to represent 4 shillings. I therefore request the necessary steps may be taken to recover the amount from the Hongkong Government."
